It all depends on the brokerage firm you are using. Canadian brokerage firms will aloow you to short BB stocks at any level, but you need 100% of the amount shorted(on top of the money generated from the sale). If you start asking the broker too many questions and regulations about such, and he takes it to his compliance department, you will not be allowed to do anything. When I short BB, I just do it. I don't ask if we can borrow the stock or anything. If you are American, you will have a harder time, no...make that imposible, shorting BB stocks. A lot of Americans short BB through Canadian brokerage houses. Good Luck!
