Jim, If you follow Compaq you will soon learn that the problem is in the high-end machines. Look at the sales of Best Buy, CompUSA, Staples, etc....and you will see that the sub-$1000 computers are selling very well not just for Compaq but for others as well. Also factor in that Compaq just shipped huge amounts of computers to Radio Shack which just started to sell Compaqs in March. This has led to some of the pc shortages. Given this, as well as public statements by Compaq, you will realize that the problem is in the high end machines. Just look where HWP, IBM, and Compaq are aggresively cutting prices. By the way, I haven't talked to any reseller. -Eddie
