Bob and All--The IBM-Acer news is GREAT!! Also good was this Semic. Bus. News article on Intel's spending plans (noting a plan to aggressively move to .18 micron):

techweb.cmp.com

I am a bit worried in the near term, however, that Intel will try to squeeze more production out of their existing equipment while trying to squeeze SVG for price concessions on future Micrascan orders.

My notes show SVG shipping 42 Micrascans in FY 1997 (does not include a couple of machines shipped internally to the San Jose demonstration center), with 48 machines in <12 mos. backlog and another 27 machines in >12 mos. backlog heading into FY 1998. The <12 mos. backlog dropped by one machine per my notes of the FY1Q98 conference call of 1/20/98, while the >12 mos. backlog was unchanged. I suspect these numbers will drop on the upcoming conference call. Weather the storm.
