Folks,

I'm interested in getting in on some of the internet telephony action, but do not know where to get in. Can someone recommend a couple of companies that have potential. I personally am beginning to hear of advances everyday that make this a real threat to traditional telephony. However, to me it is clear internet telephony will not go too far if they do not overcome the barrier of customer interface equipment (that is, the computer and modem and so on).

Are there any companies that are involved in work that makes internet telephony possible using a basic telephone instrument or something similar? Does that concept make sense from a technical standpoint?

Any insight will be appreciated.
