>>>to what do you attribute IOM's rise today? Are people expecting them to beat earnings? Also, does anyone know if there were any 100K + block purchases or was it all individual investors making the buys?<<<

Mindmeld...

I hate to say this but I'm chalking it up to Rocky's usual explanation for this type of move... as Ben A. pointed out... i.e. "Sucker's Rally" leading up to earnings on Thur.s. I have seen nothing to explain this move... I don't think today's Fugitsu announcement regarding notebook ZIP drives is helping at all... I think there are so many "Traders" that have been following this stock so intensely over the last 2 or 3 years, so much game playing and psychology involved and that it all gets magnified the closer you get to earnings... My view is that there a lot of traders "betting" that the acting CEO is going to do something "drastic" during the upcoming CC to differentiate the "new" IOMEGA from the "K.E." IOMEGA, maybe he'll announce a stunning new CEO or at least skew the results (within the limits of the law) in the stocks favor for a change... Hell with the way the market works, i.e. good news is bad news / bad news is good news... There are probably a lot of trader's betting that IOMEGA's losses won't be as bad as anticipated (10 - 25 million) and the stock will get a little pop from the standard "Less than expected loss..." statement.

I guess when you get right down to it... I don't have a clue why the stock is trying to rally... You'll notice I use the word "bet" a number of times in this post... Right now IMO any "investment" in IOMEGA be it short or long is nothing more than a bet at best and that's why I'm not touching it until after earnings are announced and the CC is over...

Good Luck...
