None, unless you're spending many thousands of dollars on an autotracking satellite dish and gonna get direcPC thru it... but then you'd need a metricom modem anyway for the upstream connection. Ok, there are some other options for portable communications, but they max out at 9600 baud and charge by the byte. This perplexes me because others have your same comment, but it makes no sense. Metricom has every other system beat in at least one component- cheaper than a phone line and modem on a monthly bases, faster than all the other portable connections, more mobile than everything that's faster than it.
