Dr. John,
I have no hesitation to own a $500 computer, I only stated that it is good for the society. I agree with you that I " personally" don't own a sub-$1000 dollars computer but I can tell you that It would not have been achieved without competition. I am sorry that I have not read your messages thoroughly, but that said, what would you like to know about my model? Would I tell you to buy AMD vs Intel?!! NO, I Use my model, and I don't suggest it to anybody yet... I would be glad to tell you how many variables are used.!!!!! As you said, It would be embarrasing if I don't follow my BASICS.!!!. BUT I DO!!!

You could write your programs in 32-bit optimized x86 CPU's anytime, I chose the DEC Alpha 64-bit 533 MHz. I am happy about that and I hope you like your Intel machines. MS programs are not designed for my work.... Tell me what you need and I hope to give you the software to help..... I agree with you that a lot of people buy computers because of "RECOMMENDATION" rather than USE or NEED.
I thank you for writing...
