Electronic news, this week, had a number which was interesting in the DRAM article that there will be a shortage by end of 1998. Micron is already saying 80 percent increase in bit count for now. All drams are now 64 megabyte package; so, the 72 pin simms and 64 bit dimms can be 32 megabyte for each computer sold this year. Upgrade is definitely true, to increase speed of Windows 95 and later Windows NT.

As usual, as price drops, more transistors are sold. More drams are sold, manufacturers were hurting, but distribution may be benefited by the volume increase.
