Re: Patents

Patents are one type of asset a company may have. What they do with them is another matter. Often a company will take a license or buy a patent simply because to do so is cheaper than to litigate. Happens all the time. Just last year INTC paid DEC several hundred million to resolve their patent disputes. Does that make DEC a better investment than INTC?

MTIC seems like a decent company, but looks like a chimp to me. As the book says, you can certainly make money on chimps, but the gorillas are the long-term stars.
