>> I'm back. Trip was great. Thought I should explain the litter vs YR2K. We originally acquired the litter project in Sept. 1997. The software came along in January. Would you pass up that kind of opportunity? We have already expended a great deal of time and money on the litter project with packaging, marketing etc. It made no sense to drop it when we did not know if the software worked or not. So we carried on. Now we have what looks like two good projects. P&G made soap and cake mixes, two diverse products. They do okay. We did not set out to be a software company. But we are not going to pass up on an opportunity to make money for the company. People with the expertise in selling software will be consulted in order to make the most of the project. Why don't people sit back and relax and stop analyzing everything that does and does not happen. Rome was not built in a day. Sales meeting went really well --14 hours. Got a lot accomplished. Have a great Easter. Rhonda <<
*4/10/98 - Post from reader on SI about Y2K software (Rick Bates)*
My understanding of the application is that it searches a user defined hard drive looking for executables, I also believe it does a check on the BIOS... When if finds an executable it retrieves certain properties of the executable, such as version, etc... It then compares this against an ISAM database that is shipped with the product... The database is a collection of version specific commercial application entries, it's associated Y2K problems, and the name of the vendor patch for this problem... The database can also be updated as additions and changes are made, much like the way virus lists are done with virus protection software... I have also read that the URL for the patch is given... It then reports what your problem applications are and what you need to do to fix them... Not Rocket Science, but it sure speeds things up when you have to check multiple machines and you want to do it without getting intimately aquainted with each one of them and you don't what to have to spend hours on a company's website looking for a patch to a 5 year old, $50 piece of software that you should upgrade to a newer version anyhow...

CSHK is not a software company.. they are not a kitty litter company. CSHK is a STRATEGIC MARKETING company that seeks out and finds products that have significant potential in the marketplace. Those that own the rights to those products either lack the financials means, the right connections, or the knowledge of how to get their product to the market. CSHK steps in... tests the product thoroughly and then if they like it they acquire the rights/company/product and goto work. They picked up the kitty litter in September of 1997 and have made tremendous progress w/ it thus far. Sales should start flowing within a few months. When they found the Y2K software in Janurary of 1998 they felt they couldn't pass up on it. So they recently acquired them as well.
