Real Time Trading Forum:
The IRC channel won't be a chat room per se, it will be a trading forum where moderators announce news, earnings releases, entry and exit points, significant buys/sells/volume. There will be an IRC Chat 'lounge' if you will where subscribers can have a dialog with other traders, and post questions to the lurking moderator, tell jokes, curse us, etc. but in the trading forum itself there will be no subscriber input.
There are three reasons for this: 1) Use of a Bloomberg-type terminal, (which runs about $2k a month) requires a dedicated and succint post that the subscribers won't have to weed through the banter to notice, and 2) it moves noise, arguments, personality conflicts, etc. to the open chat room. It also allows the opening of multiple focused forums for options, futures, etc. as requested by specific clients. The moderators will have specfic assignments, related to the type of information provided, so that one making earnings, volume or news plays need only follow specific individuals.
This effort is evolving, and there are quite a few different impressions that some people have about what it is and how it will work. A lot of the input has been valuable, and as you might suspect, a lot of it has been flavored by others agendas and misconceptions. Hopefully it will end up being a rich source of information for both subscribers and guests.
