Fred,

I think Carl focus too much on u-P competition. According to his articles, u-P should one day become a commodity product like DRAM. So if CYRX, AMD, PowerPC, Hitachi, Hyndai or DEC can come out something comparable to what INTC has (performance or cost efficiency), he believes the market share INTC has today will easily drop.
Now I begin to realize the power of "Intel Inside" slogan and why INTC spent a million to get the name "Pentium" instead of 586. Some of us, as engineers, don't know the power of marketing and sales. We all know customers are those who pay to buy their PCs. Not Compaq, IBM or any other system makers.
