<what's "GPS"?

Global Positioning System ... It's used for navigation systems worldwide (airplanes, ships, boats, railcars ... even trucks). Mountain climbers use it. People with cell phones use it.

What many don't realize ... it's also used for time increments. Considered to be most accurate time. Brokerage firms and banks are hooked up to this for timely transfer of funds. Interest rates for LARGE sums can be based on minutes and seconds!! Utilities use this to determine when/where power moves thru the grid.

It's a known, and publicly acknowledged FACT that GPS will fail August 21,1999.

They can't get to the satellites to fix the embedded systems. So ... all of the receivers have to be updated (patched) or replaced. The major airlines/airports will most likely have this taken care of.

Don't know about the other entities. From what I hear, "patch" hasn't yet been worked out. Maybe it will be done in time. Maybe it won't. Maybe EVERYONE will get and know how to put the "patch" into place. Maybe some won't.

I'm being overly cautious. So, my travel plans will end before August 21 - unless I have assurance.
