Increasing dayrates is the main thing. Decreasing interest expense and general operating expenses helps, as does adding rigs that can increase the total return.

ESV tends to be fairly conservative. They have been slow to build without a high expectation of return. Debt to equity has been and should continue shrinking. The company will ride through whatever short term fluctuations they may encounter around rates and be ready for hefty increases as oil & gas demand drives drilling demand. ESV's margins and return on investment have been extremely strong. The company's long term performance has been and likely will continue to be above the industry average.
