<One observations about your favorite company MS. Why isn't Webtv being aggressively marketed? It's a great product. Could it be that it will hurt his home PC market. I think the only reason he [gates] has Webttv is for the technology in it.>

Or, to keep competitors away from that technology and market-base. Did you know that Sun put in a bid to buy WebTV for something like $250 million? It is my understanding that M$crosoft responded with their own $450 million bid to keep Java (and Sun) away from the consumer electronic space. I'm sure that wasn't the only reason, WebTV is good technology and valuable in it's own right. But M$crosoft's typical strategy is to partner with a company, vampire away it's technology and stamp the life out of it when it is done. Gates must have been very worried about Sun having WebTV for him to plop down half-a-billion dollars for a web browser in a box (remember, Gates is very cheap, very paranoid and prefers looting a company under-siege to paying them).
