Pat... suggest you read up on brokers and market makers. Do a web search. If Datek lost money like we do every time their system goes down, they wouldn't be in business anymore. Only 10% of traders succeed.... Datek has stated they are not a market maker... but does that mean they have no inventory? People on this thread have stated that they can short almost any stock they want through Datek. Think about that.....

You may think brokers are here to make you rich but they are not. The most blatant rip off tried on me by a broker (e-Trade) was charging me over the high of the day for a buy. Ask yourself... how can I be charged more than what the stock traded the whole day??? Brokers rely on the stupidity of their customers..... Enough said.
