This is absolutely tragic for anyone who loves freedom in India. I quote Yahoo for background ,"Fernandes said the National Agenda of the coalition government reiterated a national policy which had been in force for years.

"In other words, we don't sign the NPT, CTBT. We keep our options," the defense minister said. "You are obviously keeping it (the nuclear option) open because there can be many eventualities."

India, which exploded a nuclear device in 1974 but says it has no nuclear bomb, has refused to sign the Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT) or the Comprehensive Test Ban Treaty (CTBT) because it says the accords are discriminatory.

Defense analysts believe that fear of its nuclear-armed neighbor across the Himalayas, China, lies at the heart of India's often ambiguous nuclear and missile program.

Islamabad last week announced that it had succeeded with the 935-mile Ghauri missile and analysts on both sides of the tense border said Pakistan could now reach targets in India that were previously out of range.

Fernandes said that India had enough missiles to deter Pakistan, which announced last week it had test-flown a new 935-mile missile called the Ghauri".

This, precisely, is what I said would happen Mohan when (not if) the BJP got elected Mohan. India is going the way Pakistan went a generation ago...that is, towards the politics of religion-based, ultra nationalist, chest beating political-posturing... that will lead to other things quite unintended by Mr. Fernandes.

The politicians will beat the drum of Hindu-vata and India standing tall because that gets votes...meanwhile, the army and the national armed forces love this because that gets more money for the military.

So China. India and Pakistan "build up".

And India drifts closer and closer towards that inevitable point already seen in Pakistan where the military takes over from the democratic rubbish that governs the country now. "These politicans are badmash. The army can do much better. Much better indeed. What do we need these corrupt politicain wallahs for? We will have a military comander put some sense into these corrupt banias too... who have utterly decimated India spiritually."

So. Do you want to know the future?

I'll tell you but maybe you don't want to hear.

Ah, Mohan you got me going here...
