Hal - The medical community in the U.S. has been clamoring for years that there is not enough domestic production capability for medical isotopes, especially those used in radiopharmaceuticals (the vast majority of which are imported). From what I gather, the growing need for radiopharmaceuticals, coupled with the availability of the SSC LINAC, was the driving force behind INIS formation.

I do not know if there are any foreign firms that directly compete in the prostate seed business. I believe, however, that most I-125 which is used in seeds is imported, as opposed to Pd-103, which is produced domestically in cyclotrons. INIS plans on producing and selling both I-125 and Pd-103 in the second half of this year.
