carrngc: That article is a chilling reality check to all loyal Apple supporters. It show how jobs has not changed, learned or evolved a more effective management style. In the high tech climate right now in California good people can fly out the door in a heartbeat. The bad will stick like glue and eventually you are stuck to the ground with them. It is quite true that Apple has built up a huge cadre of lower grade people. All they had to do was cheer and go rarara at the right time. Jobs will soon get rid of those who disgaree with him, note the response to the engineer who asked about his commitment??. That means a "yes man" evolutionary path will be set up. Yes survives and no gets fired, with no regard to the validity of the person or his ideas.
I suspect that tirade was an eye opener for those 5 engineering hires?, how many walked away that day?

If Job's ideas are presciently correct and all he needs are yes men to execute orders, then Apple will survive.
I doubt Job's prescience, and so he will need independent thinkers, and his regime will discourage them.
