Anyone remember the old Saturday Night Live fake commercial selling a new razor with 3 blades? It was complete with an animated razor pulling a hair out of the face and slicing it off. The tag line at the end of the commercial ( which they played totally straight ) was
"The new triple track blade, because, you'll buy anything."

Gillette Is Finally Revealing Its Vision of the Razor's Future

BOSTON -- This morning, after more than five years of development
work shrouded in enough secrecy for a Stealth bomber, Gillette Co. plans to unveil in New York its most noteworthy new razor in nearly a decade.

The new razor, a successor to Gillette's highly successful Sensor, is
deemed so important to the company that its management built high
plywood walls inside its factory here to conceal the production lines. It also went to the Federal Bureau of Investigation to plug leaks and
parceled out work to subcontractors so none would get a full picture.

The secret behind the walls: The $5 razor sports three blades, all mounted on tiny springs like the twin-blade Sensor, according to people in the industry. Gillette has also developed a new, costly-to-produce blade edge designed to cut hair with less resistance and thus provide a closer shave. In addition, the razor's cartridge is positioned at a new angle to the handle, making shaving less like scraping and more like using a paintbrush.



Because, you'll buy anything.
