Frame Relay is the hottest ticket right now, however several important technological changes are on the horizon. Internet connections have historically been less than perfect. This has primarily been due to connection speeds being limited to 56kbps. Secondarily, ISP redundancy has also been a big issue. Hughes 2-way 512kbps sattelite dish networks, cable modems, ISDN and the big one: DSL are changing all of that (that's the joint venture between MSFT/INTC/COMPAQ and the phone companies) . When connection speeds dramatically increase (and are accepted), bandwidth constraints will ease, which will increase datastream and reliability. By June-Dec 1999 the internet will be the hottest delivery mechanism for intraday trading (year 2000 protections?). The intuitive players are jockeying for position in what will prove to be a real internet WAR. Data vendors that have the speed, technology, redundancy, and the internal talent to deliver the full potential of the internet best, will be the stars of the next 18-24 months. Level II with Order execution-through your internet browser! Here comes phase 2.
