Sorry for the delay in responding - I was looking all over for this link. The short answer is that there is no current high performance FC to ATM link. The NTT-Ancor collaboration was supposedly working on this device and the target date was 2nd quarter 1998. I have corresponded with engineers that have told me that mapping FC onto ATM or SONET can be done - just no current high performance devices.

The available hybrid LANS look like this (curse down to fig. 1 and fig. 2):

The Mt. Subaru and DoD LANS all basically look similar. ATM or fast ethernet LANS with FC attached storage. I think there is a lot to be said for direct GE, ethernet, or ATM to FC and vice versa. Craig has already pointed out the limitations of the available edge connectivity device on the Ancor www site:
