Jenna - Thank you, thank you, for STLY!
I am a buy-and-hold type who has decided to start a "short term portfolio" on the side, for pin money at those times when my long-term portfolio stalls out. This means I can buy stocks that do not meet all my criteria for long-term holds, but are likely to make me some money in a few days time.
I happened on this thread looking for leads, and downloaded your April 13 newsletter, with all its earnings plays. I was delighted to see STLY featured, and went out and bought it for my "short term" portfolio. STLY is a stock I have been following for quite some time, but hesitated to buy for my long-term portfolio since I already own two furniture stocks -- MLHR and ETH. (ETH also beat analysts' estimates this week, but apparently not by enough! It went down by over 8% today, but my gain in STLY more than made up for it. In fact, I may replace ETH with STLY, which meets my long-term criteria very well!)
Then I took a look at the post-earnings report record of some of the other stocks you recommended -- and my! It's like shooting fish in a barrel! So I put a few more toes in the water, buying a bit of HON, WERN, and PIR. We shall see. I'm not experienced at this short-term stuff, and am likely to be somewhat slow on the draw, but you may be sure I will be following your recommendations closely.
