Really the Wintel user has no problems operating. Most people who use Wintels are happy and have no problems, I have no problems with my machines. Both do the same with slight variances in how you do things. Apple has better points as does Wintel.
Do not forget that Wintel came from behind and overtook Apple when Apple was proud and strong, so it does no good to mouth platitudes when they interfere with a proper assessment of the way things really are.
As it is Apple can become a nice profitable niche player, and that seems to be what Jobs is doing. This is rational and will work as long as Jobs tends his knitting.
Jobs is a chronic meddler and micro manager, and runs the risk of doing more harm than good if he is fully installed as CEO.
He knows his faults and acts to minimize them, and that is why he stays in the wings. I suspect he gets bored easily and cannot drive himself well on things that must be done but he dislikes.(lacks discipline).

Apple seems to have no player for the low end computers yet. they need a low end entry level computer to grow a user base to move upmarket. The few that stray from Wintels are insufficient to grow share. The replacement market is also not going to grow share. Only recruitment will do this."demon spawn", accurate descriptor of marketing men, esp in colored glitter suits. What are they left over Elvis unplayed gig rigs?
