Kaiser likes joint venture with Troymin

John Kaiser, writing in his Bottom Fish Tracker of April 9, likes Troymin
Resources' news of a joint venture with DeBeers' Canadian subsidiary,
Monopros. The Alberta diamond philosopher calls the deal significant
because of the return of DeBeers to northern Alberta, thereby imparting a
"credibility boost" to his favourite area play. Mr Kaiser says it is
logical to view the Monopros deal from the positive view that DeBeers
"wants to be part of the exploration process before Alberta's world-class
potential is turned into a reality." He reminds his subscribers that Ashton
Mining already has uncovered 23 kimberlites on its Buffalo Head property.
Mr Kaiser also says the Monopros move "may help turn around the negative
sentiment in the diamond community." As for shares of Troymin, which Mr
Kaiser recommended at $0.60 for 1997 and $0.62 for 1998, the joint-venture
move is "very positive". Mr Kaiser calculates that should Troymin reach $2
billion in value (up from the present implied value of $49 million), it
would represent a 41:1 gain for shareholders. He declines to outright
recommend Troymin as a buy, simply leaving his flock with the happy idea
that the stock might go to $32. He owns shares.
