ditto on Dan's answer about VC firms

they always take equity positions
typically look for 500-1000% plus plus plus returns over 3-5 years or so
when the company they finance with seed money does their IPO

one winner makes up for a lot of losers

you rarely see a VC firm come in to a company that is already public

that's when 'Investment Bankers" come in

all kinds of bankers, all kinds of thieves ggggggg
