<just typing away for the heck of it. Yeah--me too. Just feeling opinionated this afternoon. Ideally parents spend years on this---you don't just start when they turn 13 or 17--whoops by the way-don't do this or you might get pregnant. We've spent a lot of time for a lot of years-using books and late night talks in the dark- sometimes with dad about man stuff, sometimes with mom about respect and what happens from the girls' perspective. And we've also made the consequences very clear. If you choose to behave as an adult you will take the consequences. No top tier school, a job and a local college, and support payments for the next 22 years. "I lost control" is not an acceptable excuse. For anything. And if you did then doggone it, be prepared---and we've discussed that too.
