Haven't flown in a while though (let my medical lapse and haven't had a BFR in about 3 years), but I understand all to well the need for extra runway. Picture: Cherokee 6 (300), 4 - 200 lb men, full baggage and golf clubs, full fuel, (i.e., slightly overweight), Ruidoso, NM (elev around 5,000) on a high (80%+) humidity day... Density altitude around 9500, as I recall......you get the picture.....had very little runway left when we finally got airborne and only climbed at less than 200fpm....in the mountains....other than in a stall, the most sluggish handling I've ever had in a plane. A lesson learned at no cost fortunately (and I had a CFII in the right seat since we were expecting some possible IFR weather and I wasn't IFR certified).

Some of my juries think I am already a comic....you should see the way they sometimes laugh when I ask for acquittals....Oh well, you don't get what you don't ask for...and when all else fails, the SODDI defense is a reliable standby...(SODDI = Some Other Dude Did It). That Soddi is one busy guy....
