Why mutual funds close out there books by 10/31. The funds have to
pay capital gains on realized gains and losses. Any gains or losses
must be realized (position sold) by 10/31. So if fund is sitting on
gains, it looks to dogs to sell to offset gains. Novell is a woof woof
so far this year, and valuable candidate to utilize loss. perhaps
tomorrow and afterward these stocks will not be subject to this selling
pressure by institutions. of course individuals can still sell up to
12/31. Novell seems awfully cheap here. buy at 9 or so and have faith.
