To All: ALSC bad news after the market-declining SRAM Pricing

Wasn't this OLD News?
Could it hurt IDTI/CY/ISSI/PRDM's stock price more tomorrow?
Should we buy more, sell, hold, or short? Can someone help?
It has been very frustrating looking at "RAM" companies.

>>Alliance Semi Sees Charge, Net Shortfall For 4Q

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Dow Jones)--Alliance Semiconductor Corp. (ALSC) expects to report fourth quarter earnings significantly below third quarter earnings and expects to take a significant charge against fourth quarter earnings to reflect a reduction in the value of inventory.

In a press release, the company cited continued weakening in the static random-access memory market, resulting in soft demand and declining average selling prices for its SRAM products as reasons for the expected decline in earnings.

As reported, the company earned $2.2 million, or five cents a share, on sales of $46.4 million in the third quarter ended Dec. 31, 1995; the period included a $10 million pretax charge to adjust the valuation the company's inventory reserve.

More information on Alliance Semiconductor's earnings expecations wasn't available.

In the year-ago fourth quarter ended March 31, 1995, the company reported earnings of $9.7 million, or 38 cents a share.

The company said it appears that the weak market conditions for SRAMs will continue to hurt business and the company's operating results as a whole.

Alliance said it is hopeful that conditions in the SRAM market will begin to improve in the second half of calendar 1996, but that there can be no assurance that current market conditions will not continue indefinitely or worsen.
