I think Matsunaga has a point. I heard on the way home tonight that the income tax rate on incomes less than about US$50,000 is 3% !!! I mean, I know the cost of living is high in Japan, but still..

And most Japanese never even have to file. The taxes are paid directly by their employer, who also handles all the paperwork. I gues there aren't a lot of messy deductions and such.

I think I may be gaining a new found respect for their system. We'll see..
