Letter writing is a lost art. I fully understand what you are saying but there was one idea I thought to elaborate on. Electronic communication is very similar to writing on paper and in fact has allowed more people to share ideas. Mailing or writing letters has never been my "cup of tea". The difference between communicating on electronically instead of paper, in my opinion, is that it allows anonymous people to say whatever they want without the fear of knowing who the person is. For example, recently on the Corel thread I was attacked by a person using a pseudonym for no apparent reason. It appeared as though he got a trial membership to SI for that reason alone, as his posts were mostly directed at me. I did not get into a huge argument or fill up the thread with obscenities, however, it was quite disheartening and disappointing. There is a downside to this form of communication, and like anything in the wrong hands can be very destructive. There are much more serious cases that I have seen and people have pointed out. I and most other people who have had similar incidences will never meet the person, nor know their real identity.
