A settlement requires the consent of both parties. What type of settlement is possible without the tobacco industry? What damage will the tobacco companies undergo as a result of increased taxes on cigarettes? Will growth subside? I think not. Without the approval of the tobacco industry, the goal of the President and Congress to fund their programs is DEFEATED! The Courts will then decide the fate of the tobacco settlement, a place where the Industry has done quite well. Of course, I'm speculating here. But I'm not a prisoner to my own speculations. All I'm saying is that IF there is a settlement, it will require strong liability protection or the tobacco industry will fight all the unconstitutional provisions in court; that is to say, there will be no settlement. Ultimately, I think the money from big tobacco is more important to the vultures and their programs than the views of Kessler! " Kessler is needed more than industry support" is the farthest thing from the Truth here: MONEY to support the liberal and political agenda. The Word is beginning to circulate: Clinton and Congress couldn't care less about teenage smoking. What they care about is extorting money for their liberal spending projects. Big Tobacco is merely a guinnea pig here! If there is one thing that the vast majority of Americans hate more than big tobacco it is BIG BROTHER GOVERNMENT! If Big Brother wins here, then next year they will go after another industry for their programs. The moral: don't count your chickens before there hatched. Big Brother will lose again. Just you wait and see! " Sorry. I remain a disheartened and chagrined former bull. " No need to apologize to me. You have every right to express your despairing opinion about BIG MO'S future prospects. I am a lover of the basic freedoms of democracy.
