<< intel used to be a great investment. >>

albert,
do you honestly believe THAT given the FACT that AMD keeps posting losses and Intel keeps making sure the future is brighter (ie. almost all major PC companies are already showing support for Merced, even SGI and SUN are announcing that they will support Merced with software...this is not news to throw away in the trash or turn your back to...its real), not to mention bringing in billions in Income while people like you write them off into the dust bin that AMD is continuously throwing the party in.

You should be careful when you talk of investment, rather than a trade! From what i know, investing = more than a year. While Intel is showing us the footprints of things to come, it is giving everyone a chance to see how well managed this company is. They are not thinking about a flat 2Q, nor about how to get out of the red, nor about how they can just stay afloat. Those are for others to worry about. Intel is thinking about a lot more. It is painfully obvious what. Now, can you do us all a favor here and let us know exactly AMD is doing to prepare for the years ahead? Do you think their K6 3D chips will be hot for PCs in 2000? LOL!!!

If you are investing, then you should be concerned about what is going to happen in the years ahead, no? What do you think AMD and its products will look like in the years ahead? :-) You may notice that the uphill battle for the next five years is not going to be Intel's.

all imho
