Activision Set To Distribute id Software's QUAKE III
Announcement Follows Success of QUAKE II Which Has Shipped More Than 850,000 Units Worldwide to Date
DALLAS, April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- id Software announced today that it has licensed the worldwide distribution rights for QUAKE III to Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq:
ATVI - news). id's most recent game, QUAKE II is one of the best-selling CD-ROM games of all time and has shipped more than 850,000 units worldwide since
its launch on December 9, 1997. QUAKE II is expected to top 1,000,000 units by this summer.
QUAKE III will feature a completely new graphics engine that is optimized to take advantage of the latest advancements in high-end, 3-D graphics acceleration.
Designed as a 3-D hardware-only game, QUAKE III will continue id's signature carnage-blasting gameplay.
