Activision Set To Distribute id Software's QUAKE III

Announcement Follows Success of QUAKE II Which Has Shipped More Than 850,000 Units Worldwide to Date

DALLAS, April 15 /PRNewswire/ -- id Software announced today that it has licensed the worldwide distribution rights for QUAKE III to Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq:
ATVI - news). id's most recent game, QUAKE II is one of the best-selling CD-ROM games of all time and has shipped more than 850,000 units worldwide since
its launch on December 9, 1997. QUAKE II is expected to top 1,000,000 units by this summer.

QUAKE III will feature a completely new graphics engine that is optimized to take advantage of the latest advancements in high-end, 3-D graphics acceleration.
Designed as a 3-D hardware-only game, QUAKE III will continue id's signature carnage-blasting gameplay.

power of the PC, QUAKE III will set technological and game design standards while delivering one of the most explosive gaming experiences ever.''

''id Software and Activision teamed up to make QUAKE II one of the best selling games on earth -- and gamers can look forward to us taking it a step beyond for
QUAKE III,'' said id CEO Todd Hollenshead. ''The realism of QUAKE III's new graphics engine will make even the bravest fragger falter.''

The agreement with id Software, the world's foremost independent developer of PC action games, further underscores Activision's commitment to partner with top
industry talent and expand its publishing efforts through internal product development, external product acquisitions, strategic partnerships and corporate acquisitions.

id -- Freud's primal part of the human psyche and one of the hottest game shops on Earth -- has been rocking the gaming world from Mesquite, Texas since 1991.
