Ron, that story sounds very much like the old cold war tactics of individuals trying to undercut government foreign policy. I didn't see any reference to that story in my very brief news sources about Turkey. I did see this interesting one sentence entry. An illicit trade in diesel fuel, brought into Turkey on trucks from northern Iraq, grinds to a halt because of the rising strength of the Iraqi currency. The Turkish inflation rate is around 100%. Also, my impression is that the Kurdish guerrilla movement is coming unglued due to internal conflicts among its leadership. There was also a number of articles about the abduction by Turkish forces of the Kurd leader who had been the number two man in the Guerrilla leadership. But the war still goes on and 75 people were killed in the last 2 days. More than 27,000 have been killed in 13 years of fighting. Charles
