Name another piece of software that ships with EVERY Compaq, Dell, Gateway, Micron, etc. We are talking at least one order of magnitude in sales volume between most software titles and Windows. A box of air and CD-ROM still has to cost far less to distribute than the CD-ROM player it plays on, yet I can purchase the hardware for less. Real competition produces real prices. Compaq can always switch brands on its CD-ROM player in search of a better price for its customers. Can it do the same with Windows98?
