Reggie,

>>Just like you could not find the free version of the latest Mac. But you can find free Outlook 98 if you were registered for Otulok 97, free IE 2, IE 3 and IE 4. There are thousands of free active X controls, etc.

Did you try www.apple.com? I can download the OS 8.1 upgrade for free and also I have two copies of it that came on the CD-ROMs in magazines. Retail FULL versions of MacOS 8.1 cost the same as Windows95 upgrades (note: my Windows95 upgrade is not a full standalone OS). Even though the target audience of the MacOS is only 3% of the Windows target audience they both can sell at the same price and make money. Come on, a 30:1 market advantage in the number of platforms and MSFT cannot sell a product for less than APPLE (a company known for its premium pricing no less)? Of course, some of that Windows price is used to defray the cost of giving away browsers that only half the people want, so the books probably balance out.

Active Xtinct widgets do not exactly fall under the category of power apps any more than the Java dancing flowers applets do.

>>I will argue any side that you oppose, you simply have to pcik a sidew and stick to it.

A man who will argue any side that another opposes sounds like the one who should be picking sides to stick to! Did you ever think of changing your SI login to Chameleon?

Glad to see you are back on the thread. MSFT must have extended your 'journalism grant' for awhile longer.

Cheers,

Norm
