Mark, This is the product that I have spoken of a couple of times before. Looks like they may even be on schedule if they are showing alpha copies, although who knows what shape it is really in. Nevertheless, if it realizes its potential, it will be huge huge winner. Adobe won't be getting just upgrape money from PageMaker people, they'll get serious cash, although they will probably make some special upgrade offers since they don't want to just alienate their current customers. Still, I would expect it to cost more than just the normal upgrade fee if they think that it is a real winner.
To reiterate what I have said on earlier posts--this is a gutsy move that, if it works, will also be "brilliant". If they do it in a clumsy way, though, they will just destroy a strong PageMaker franchise. Well, it is necessary in any case. I hope that they have made the program with the Web, 3-D, and animation in mind as well as print (not to be too demanding<g>). |
