How did you compute .91? If PPD maintains a 44% growth rate then 1998 earnings should by $1.19 per share. (1997 earnings .83 x 1.44). Then a PE of 44 puts the stock price target at 52 3/8. However, I don't know that a growth rate of 44% (and declining) justifies a PE of 44.

PPD is a heavily shorted stock with almost 8 trading days' average volume sold by short sellers. That and the buying of enthusiastic, new associates, may provide the demand to propel the stock higher.
