Jeez, take it easy :-).

Obviously every business wants to raise margins and lower costs. But high-margin and high-performance products are in their own market niche. The big rage these days is the sub-$1000 market, which is not high-performance nor necessarily high-margin, but very big volume. I am sure Compaq and Dell would be happy competing in this market as well.

I think the point was that Apple is currently going full-guns towards the high-end niche and not the other market segments. I for one hope that they enter the sub-$1000 market soon because I think they can make a really good product offering there.
