TelVue Corporation Shows First Profits
Mt. Laurel, NJ May 27, 1997
TelVue Corporation had net income before income taxes of $159,272 on sales of $1,542,844 for the first quarter ended March 31, 1997. In the same period last year the company had a net loss before income taxes of $128,571 on sales of $1,304,382. According to TelVue President and CEO Frank Carcione, It is the first time in the company's history that it has generated net income for a quarter.
While a number of things influenced business growth, according to Mr. Carcione, the single largest contributing factor to TelVue's improved performance was an increase of 1.3 million cable-TV subscribers in 1997 over 1996. The Company's services are now available to 8.7 million homes. The increased number of subscribers offset a decrease in the percentage of subscribers purchasing Pay Per View (PPV) movies and events from 26.1% in first quarter 1996 to 24.2% in first quarter 1997. Other factors which helped performance were an increase in use of the company's "National Service Features" and "PPV+" by affiliates.
TelVue Corporation provides Automatic Number Identification (ANI) telecommunications services for automated ordering of PPV movies and events to cable-TV systems.
