Have to ever worked with computer networks????? No matter who you buy product from it will go down at sometime in future(partially and/or fully.) If this is a one time event than it will be net gain for Cisco.

Chartering a plane to get the equipment there ASAP shows total commitment to a MAJOR customer. It shows that when you really need _support_ you will get it. It is not free, but you get what you pay for.

The fact that two switches may have brought the whole network down is the most serious point. I am confident that Cisco will deal with that issue as aggressively as they got replacement equipment out to the client site.

There is a lot of talk about the technical merits of company X's products over company Y's. As a client of either company, I need to know that I will get SUPPORT during an outage. Once I buy, SUPPORT will keep me as a customer. When I buy capital equipment SUPPORT is a major factor in the overall purchase. These products will be in service for many many years, and I need to know that the company I bought them from will continue to support my needs. If all else is equal with the product(aka technical details) then support becomes the determining factor.

PS Chartered plane = clear message of TOTAL SUPPORT, and aggressive management of the problem.
