Put all your shares in a cash account and tell your brokerage house that they are not to be loaned.---------All shorts must be covered by borrowed shares. If there isn't too much of a float, such as you described, I wouldn't think there would be anyone brave enough out there to short a stock that doesn't have a decent float.
