Hi John,

You have a valid point, but whatever you do with an NC you can also do with a PC. You can today run Excel off the network, and set the network up to allow a maximum of say 20 connections, thus having 500 PCs run 20 copies of Excel.

I know some companies that do this. The users complain about how the thing runs like a dog, the network goes down and they can't do any work and how the company tries to stamp out personal phone calls. In other words, the companies that do it tend to have no respect for their employees and reap the benefits of that strategy...

So most companies choose to give a local copy to each PC, despite the apparent 'cost'. Just my observation!

Richard
