Frank, <Why would anyone take Kurlak .. seriously. Merrill doesn't know tech any better than the next guy.> They do not need to know tech or chemistry: a Cola (or Pepsi?) marketing guy can lead a tech industry, you know that... You may not take Kurlak seriously, but look: on INTC, every second at least 10 trades happen, 200-1000 shares, or hundred thousand decisions are made per day. All this is about psychology, not technology. Each decision is a result of personal balance of internal FUD, expectations, and external limited information, including guesses on how your concurrent could assess the same misinformation... The guys like Kurlak or else have a tribune to talk and influence these decisions... Now you should guess which way the crowd will go.. The bigger problem is that they trample that way before Kurlak has a signal to talk up or down, and even a small statistical misbalance makes big money on the MM scale.
This is my theory again:-), take it easy.
