Part of that is the 66 Mhz bus, the new 100 Mhz bus will stop this along with the faster cache mmeory speeds.
They call it bus strangulation, and all us Wintel fanatics over clock the things to get the bus faster. Currently you can push it to around 87 Mhz reliably with some boards. 100 Mhz boards are out now, but are flakey. In 2 months you will be able to puch them to 120 or so.
