SB, My logic is contrary on this question. I think a lot of folks are borrowing at short term rates to fund "no-risk" bond purchases, including foreigners. Should short rates go up, their profit gets hit and there will be sales of bonds driving prices down. In the near term. In the long haul, Greenspan doing something about rampant financial inflation might take bonds to 5%. Much lower than that is not going to happen, as we have a natural slant toward inflation in this country with our huge trade imbalances. MB
