Sam,

Believe it or not, I'm a lot LESS liberal than I used to be. However, I will NEVER support a party that doesn't support a woman's right to choose. As a Jew, I will NEVER support a party that features Pat Robertson, who would have made a great Nazi.

I heard about the whole 'rushing through new citizens' thing. I buy it to some extent. However, assuming nothing illegal occurred (and that's not for you, me or Richard, but instead the courts, to decide), I call that home field advantage. I'm not familiar with the California mail votes issue.

Republicans opposed the motor voter because they feared that more 'common folk' (my term based on discussions I've heard and articles I've read on the issue) would be registered and that they would mainly vote Democrat. This sort of reinforces the image of Republicans as the party of elitists (yeah, I know that's a broad generalization). But, if their message was so wonderful, why would they fear new voters? Wouldn't these voters be just as likely to vote Republican as Democrat? Why do the Republicans fear having a better cross-section of the country vote?

Let's face it. Dole's message resonates mostly with white males (look at the gender and race gap in the polls if you don't believe me). I, for one, think this country has moved past the stage where only the voices of this group should count.

Since no one really wants to waste on-line time with discussion and I am not going to change your vote and you are not going to change mine, as far as I am concerned this discussion is over. I will be happy to read responses, but will not reply to them. Let's get back to stocks!
