ratan you see this theory espoused more on individual stocks where it is a bit easier although if you dont believe in this kind of manipulation..(but you have heard about Morgan Stanley's fine, right) there is also the idea that it is the natural ebb and flow of all short and long stocks short and long options hedges etc coming to one point.... and this same thinking could be said for an index....
